The most basic things you need to learn in Linguistics are:
syntax, morphology, phonology (and phonetics), semantics, maybe pragmatics, too.
If you mean it by general linguistics, I'm afraid there's not much I can tell,
what I learn are Englisch and German linguistics respectively.
I wouldn't say it's boring, a lot of people just find it fascinating.
(Well language itself is fascinating.)
But you'll have to deal with a lot of things concerning language
which you took it for granted,
so, a lot of thinking actually. |
